
Evolution & Integration: Unveiling the Journey of OD at VDAB
Katerina De Clerck is Director of OD at the Flemish public service for Employment and Vocational Training (VDAB). She'll be offering her experience of integrating OD with other functions at VDAB (without selling her OD soul).
Katerina and colleagues will share how they got from 4 people working silently behind the scenes to 50+ people working as a structural part of several organisational processes, answering questions such as:
- What does it mean to be ‘integrated’ and into what processes are they integrated?
- How are they organised, internally and externally, to achieve this?
- What value does OD bring to the organisation and how do they measure it?
- Does everyone at VDAB understand and support what they try to do?
- What sort of mindset helped them in getting to where they are today?
- What struggles of the OD-soul have they encountered and how have they responded?

About VDAB and Katerina
The Organisational Development Department (O&O) is dedicated to establishing an adaptable VDAB through a focus on strengthening the organisational capabilities to achieve sustainable behavioural, cultural, and organisational shifts. Its efforts aim to sustain the motivation and high performance of VDAB employees and their partners amidst ongoing changes in balance with realising VDABs vision and strategy.
Within the O&O department, there is a team of corporate project leaders and business analysts, and a team of experts/advisors in OD. Both teams offer assistance through a blend of expertise, strength of purpose and acceptance-building. Project leaders, change managers, business analysts and advisors - each plays a different role in supporting the organisation's transformative initiatives from service delivery to internal processes.
As leader of the department since 2021, Katerina likes to approach complex issues with a multidisciplinary mindset and a focus on sustainable growth. She ardently advocates for the potency of embracing opportunities and values and connects various perspectives based on shared values.
