A 'New to Field' experience
Matteo Gatti is relatively new to the field of OD and will be sharing some of his experiences at the New to Field introduction on the evening of Wednesday 8th.
About Matteo
As an Organization Development Consultant at Alef Consulting, Matteo is a fervent change maker and humanity lover. Alef Consulting, operating as a sense-making advisor, supports clients in restoring, developing, and enhancing effectiveness with a focus on organizational alignment, change management, human capital enhancement, corporate coaching, leadership development and managerial training.
Matteo holds a Laurea Degree with honors in Philosophy at Università Cattolica, Milan, Italy. Thanks to Alef, Matteo found the possibility to cross the bridge from his philosophical background to the OD world through some projects on national and international clients. He underwent multidisciplinary training, including participation in two Group Relation conferences sponsored by the Tavistock Institute, an Introduction to Gestalt by the iGold Association, a Human Interaction Lab, and the TTTG NTL’s program for becoming a T-group trainer. These experiences proved transformative, enabling Matteo to enhance his emotional intelligence, social skills, and empathy, while gaining invaluable insights into the methodologies utilized within these programs.
In response to the challenges posed by the post-pandemic landscape, Matteo, as a member of Generation Z, firmly believes that "bringing back humanity into the workplace" is paramount. The scope of transformation extends far beyond the implementation of remote work policies and well-being initiatives. It necessitates the cultivation of altruistic behaviors, the adoption of innovative techniques, and the establishment of transformative routines. Understanding individuals as multifaceted beings with unique needs, hopes, dreams, and aspirations is paramount.
Organizations that prioritize this holistic approach and foster environments conducive to human flourishing will flourish collectively. Convinced as he is that «“belonging to a place” means acting as an investor, an owner, and a creator of that certain place» (Peter Block), Matteo emphasizes the importance of investing in belonging, the human, and social capital of a company, as the key element to ensure positive change. The field of Organizational Development (OD), with its vast array of research and participative methodologies, holds immense potential in this period of crisis to facilitate growth for both individuals and organizations. OD can assist individuals in rediscovering themselves as protagonists in the world and in their workplace, where they can express and discover their unique talents. Imagine going to work with this awareness, where everyone is viewed and treated as a valued contributor. How would this shift in perspective influence the way we work and interact with others?
