The Power of Community: ODN Europe Member Groups
In our flourishing European community of practice, we understand the value that comes from collaboration, networking, and shared learning and growth. Whether you're an experienced practitioner or a student of OD, being part of a group can significantly enhance your professional and personal evolution. We currently have several geographical groups in areas including Scotland, Belgium, Italy, NW England and Spain, as well as practice-based groups in areas including Artificial Intelligence and tech.
Why Join a Group?
Networking Opportunities and Professional Development
Joining a group offers networking opportunities, connecting you with like-minded practitioners in your region or practice area. Members can exchange ideas, experiences, and best practices. These connections can lead to new collaborations, partnerships, and even opportunities for shared projects or new career paths. Groups host online and face to face events throughout the year, including workshops and discussions building our sense of community and connection. At the Group scale these can be tailored to their members' interests.
Support and Friendship
Being part of a group fosters a sense of community and belonging. It's a space where you can share your challenges, celebrate successes, and receive support and advice from peers who understand your journey. Groups are also a great gateway into ODN Europe, welcoming new people into ODNE to grow our membership and enrich the community.
Influence and Impact
Active participation in a group provides support to our members in the development of their own practice area, enabling more impactful work and a deeper connection with ODNE. Your geographical group could produce collaborative research, or volunteer to host the next ODNE annual conference, influencing the broader field.
Thinking About Creating a New Group?
If you have a specific interest, are based in a location without a group yet, or you see a need that isn't currently addressed, why not consider forming a new group? Whether it's focused on a niche practice area or a geographical region, starting a group is simple and rewarding. As a group coordinator, you join a network of organisers who are happy to share their experience to support the creation and growth of new groups.
Here are some steps to get started:
- Identify Your Focus: Determine the common interest or region your group will serve.
- Gather Interest: Reach out to fellow ODNE members to gauge interest and gather a few organisers.
- Set Goals: Define the purpose and goals of your group. What do you hope to achieve and how will you keep your group connected?
- Plan Activities: Organize your first meeting or event to kick off the group’s activities.
