“Skilful action means bringing the whole of yourself to whatever it is you’re doing.”
When I started doing yoga, it was about physical flexibility. Coordinating breath with movement followed fairly quickly. In recent years I’ve incorporated different types of exercises to build physical strength as well.
But it’s only in the last couple of years that I’ve understood how much philosophy underpins yoga, and how much of this sounds exactly like OD. Ema Čulík’s yoga classes aren’t just about stretching the body, they’re about the full experience of being a person in the world.
She talks about concepts like cultivating awareness, finding resourcefulness in what we have inside us, practicing honesty and respect for all living things, and developing the ability to consciously let go.
As soon as I knew ODNE was coming to Glasgow it seemed like a perfect opportunity to bring OD and Ema together, and I’m delighted that we are able to host Ema’s workshop. No leggings or mats required. It’s yoga, but maybe not as you know it!

Ema Čulík aka Yoga Ema has been teaching yoga in Glasgow since 2018.
Action is the language of a human life as we strive to make meaning in the world, through our work, relationships, and understanding of ourselves.
During this workshop we'll explore:
- What is success and failure and how do we relate to it?
- How do we bring ourselves to what we do, and create circumstances for each other to flourish?
- How do teachings of Non-Attachment apply to work environments and collaborating as a team
- What are the conditions necessary for insight and growth?
Expect thought-provoking perspectives, practical tools, humour and also body-mind exercises for practising these principles in your own ‘field of action’.
