Theory and practice sessions for those new to OD (and those who are not)
Sharon Nash
OD Consultant, Kings Fund
So, what exactly do we mean by ‘use of self’? The UOS has been a key cornerstone of OD practice for decades pioneered by the work of the late Mee Yan Cheung Judge. It has been defined as “much more of a technique, an approach that emanates from the core of the consultant and is developed as both a mindset and a skillset over time”, (Mee-Yan Cheung-Judge & David W. Jamieson, 2018).
In this one-hour session, I will share my understanding of the concept of ‘use of self’, as a dynamically evolving, sensory phenomenon, which has elements of my identity and the persona and presence I adopt when working with others. I will also share my model of ‘use of self’ developed from an ethnographic study into my practice. I will then invite you into a brief inquiry to explore and discover what grounds you in your best work as an OD Practitioner.
I look forward to seeing you there!
